An alignment scan is not required if a project is providing GCP coordinate readings in a project localized system.
What is an Alignment Scan?
A mission flown at the elevation of a regular deck scan to ensure that the GCP coordinate readings match the survey file provided.
When should I perform the Alignment Scan?
The alignment scan should be performed at least 2 days before the first verification scan is to be performed, but after there are enough structural elements in place (formwork/slab edge) to enable the verification of the alignment.

What documentation is required?
Siteaware must have the project survey with the project grids and the relevant structural plan in .dwg format of the area to be scanned before alignment can be verified.
Does this scan require GCPs?
Yes, GCPs are required for the alignment scan.
Note: Siteaware will prepare the control layout and mission for this flight and it will be available in the “cloud” section of the DJI pilot app.
How do I perform the alignment scan?
- GCPs should be placed in the area to be scanned per the layout plan Siteaware provided.
- The points should be surveyed, and their coordinates (x,y, and z) should be uploaded to Siteaware.
Note: Siteaware does NOT require these points to be mapped in CAD.
- The mission should then be flown to scan the deck area.
- Upload the scan images to Siteaware.
Where should I upload my data?
1. The alignment scan data should be uploaded under the "Setup and Documentation" section of either the CaptureApp or the Self-Capture Upload Portal (SCUP)
CaptureApp:
SCUP:
2. From there, select Alignment

3. Add a new scan by clicking Add A Scan

In this way, you can upload as many alignment scans as requested by Siteaware.
4. You can then upload your scan images and GCPs as you would for a verification scan.
