Overview
High Impact Observations is a feature that automatically identifies and flags construction elements that could potentially result in significant critical path delays or costly rework if not addressed promptly. This tool helps construction teams prioritize their quality control efforts by highlighting the observations that matter most.
We will cover:
How it works
The system automatically analyzes element types and classifications to mark observations that historically have greater schedule or budget implications. Currently available for core construction elements, the feature uses data patterns identified across numerous construction projects to determine which elements to flag.
Elements automatically marked
Based on our analysis, the following element types will be automatically marked as High Impact Observations:
-
Concrete
- Slab Edge
- Openings
-
Steel
- Openings
- Embeds
-
MEPF (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Protection)
- Chases
- Sleeve/Risers/Drains/Conduit - Clashes
Viewing high impact observations
High Impact Observations are visible across both web and mobile platforms, in all view types:
- List View - High impact status is displayed as an indicator in the observation list
- Map View - High impact indicators appear on both minicard and expanded views
- Observation Details - Observations flagged as high impact will display a "High Impact" indicator
Customizing High Impact markings
While the system automatically marks observations based on element classification, you maintain full control over these designations:
Removing High Impact markingIf an automatically marked observation doesn't warrant high impact status in your specific context:
|
|
Adding high impact markingFor observations that aren't automatically marked but you believe warrant high impact status:
|
Tracking changes in the activity feed
The system maintains a complete history of High Impact Observation changes in the activity feed:
This audit trail provides transparency and helps teams understand when and why observations were flagged as high impact. |
Filtering by high impact
To focus on your highest-priority observations:
- In List View or Map View in either the web platform or mobile app, locate the "Filter by" option
- Select "High Impact" from the filter menu
- The view will update to show only observations marked as high impact
Exporting High Impact reports
You have two options when exporting reports with High Impact Observations:
Standard export with high impact indicators:
|
|
High impact only export:
|
Single observation reports will also indicate high impact status when applicable.
Important notes
- High Impact Observations is currently available for core construction elements only
- The system will only affect observations with specific classifications, not those with WIP or Verify in field status
- The system updates the marking based on newly received classifications
- If a user manually changes an observation's high impact status, the system will not override that choice
Benefits
- Focus on Critical Issues: Quickly identify observations that could significantly impact your project
- Efficient Quality Control: Prioritize verification efforts where they matter most
- Maintain Decision Control: Override automatic markings as needed
- Enhanced Reporting: Communicate high-priority issues more effectively to stakeholders
