Crane Capture Checklist

Crane Pre-scan Checklist (while in office/trailer):

1. Verify the drone, controller, and spare batteries are fully charged.
2. Clean the lens of the drone.
3. Verify that total station readings have been taken of GCPs and, if not done yet, upload them to Siteaware via the CaptureApp.
4. Verify that the crane operator has the scan pattern and ASL elevation for the relevant pour area.

Prepare to Scan 

1. Verify that a minimum of 5 SiteAware GCPs are visible on the deck.
2. Go to the hoist area on deck
3. Open the Pod and remove the carrying strap.
4. Inspect hoist slings and attach them to the U-bolts.
5. Remove the drone, battery, controller, and mobile brick from the pod.
6. Open the two round ports on the top and bottom of the Pod.
7. Place the lens cover, the two round port covers, and the carrying strap in the pod.

8. Turn on the drone, return it to its bay in the pod, and lock the lid. 

   Tip: Keep the drone vertical while waiting for the crane hook.

9. Turn on the controller, verify it is connected to the hotspot, and that the RTK connection is fixed.

10. Attach the four slings to the crane hook
11. Confirm radio communication with the crane operator.
12. Remind the operator to use a low-speed
13. Choose Step 3: Calibrate Camera in the CaptureApp to calibrate the camera settings.

Capture Images

1. Radio crane operator to hoist to the defined ASL (pour elevation + 50ft)
2. Start timed photos by pressing the trigger button (2-second intervals)
3. Verify that the camera is capturing the deck.
4. Verify that the plan scan pattern is fulfilled. If some areas are not covered, instruct the crane operator to make additional passes of the missed area(s).

 Post-Scan Checklist (From the Field): 

1. Guide the Pod to the ground by the retrieval line when lowered
2. Take the Pod off the crane hook and radio the crane operator when complete
3. Turn the Controller and Drone OFF
4. Close the two port caps on top and bottom of the Pod
5. Place the protective lens back on the drone camera (make sure it is clean before replacing it) and return the drone to its bay.
6. Disconnect the slings from the Pod and place them in the bay of the pod.
7. Return the controller and mobile brick to their bays in the pod
8. Connect the carrying strap and close the lid. 

Upload Images

1. Remove the SD card from the drone and place it in the controller.
2. Using the CaptureApp, upload the images to the relevant scan.
3. Charge the controller and used batteries with the provided charger so they are ready for the next scan.
